Rebecca Goodrich was raised in Los Angeles by an inventor, an English major, and a cat. She learned brainstorming, product design and marketing, and how to work on an assembly line in the family R &  D business. Some family worked at Warner Brothers, so she saw new movies at the Academy.

In 1994, Goodrich jettisoned California and its glitter to build a houseboat in Dutch Harbor, Unalaska Island. She was mentored by future writer laureate Jerah Chadwick and entranced by the island and its people. She was a columnist and reporter for the Dutch Harbor Fisherman and a stringer for KDLG, building on California credits in newspapers, business magazines, and small literary journals.

Goodrich founded the Writers at Title Wave, her third such group, chairing it for four years. Commentaries on the AK Show addressed emotionally difficult topics. “Unalaska Blueberries” placed Second in an APC contest. After a class with Fairbanks author David Marusek, “Matanuska Green” was published in Cold Flashes, UA Press anthology.

Also published in Cirque, F Magazine, Make A Scene, Alaska Journal of Commerce, Ester Republic, etc., Goodrich makes a living as a Consulting Editor. She is currently at work on her Dutch Harbor memoir.
